It's Christmas, which means tons of home-made food and having some time to take a photo or two. Several years ago someone installed wind generators on a mountain top near my home town and I've wanted to go and shoot them every time I came back. There is a good point to look at them facing east, which made it perfect for some sunrise colors. So, yesterday morning I grabbed my brother and we went to take a look. We drove up just in time for the first few layers of light. I was playing with long exposures at first, like the shot above.
With more light around, colors were pretty nice even without going to long exposures. I eventually decided on the silhouette shots above to emphasize those colors instead of distracting with unnecessary detail in the foreground. It helped that there was nothing that interesting in the foreground. Post-processing was very minimal -- just emphasizing the silhouettes and some cropping to remove minor distractions.
Finally, this is how the valley looked around sunrise. The lights in the bottom right are from Kazanlak -- the town I come from.
